Features and uses

Count words, visible characters, characters without spaces, code points, UTF-8 bytes, lines, paragraphs and sentences. See the main counts first, with a compact breakdown of the other measurements.

Adjust reading speed to estimate reading time, choose the text language and scan the most frequent words. Expand the frequency list for more detail, copy the counts or download a TXT report.

Formats, options and limits

• Analyze up to 100,000 input characters. Choose English, Spanish, Italian, French, German or Turkish and a reading speed from 80–600 words per minute; the default is 200. View up to 12 frequent words, with uppercase and lowercase versions counted together.
• Copy or download a UTF-8 TXT report of the eight counts. Reading time and word frequencies are displayed on the page. Lines follow explicit line breaks, while blank lines separate paragraphs. Visible characters group joined emoji; code points and UTF-8 bytes describe different aspects of text length.

Input limits follow the browser’s character count; some emoji use more than one input character, even when they appear as one visible character in the result.

Good to know

Visible characters are counted as grapheme clusters, so a joined emoji counts as one. Code points and UTF-8 bytes are also shown. Word boundaries depend on the selected language. Reading time is an estimate.
