What you can make and how to use it
Use the random name picker for classroom participation, turn-taking and quick group assignments. Spin a wheel with your own roster, pick without repeats, or create randomized pairs, groups and teams. Selected names, available names and existing groups remain visible as you pick.
How to get started
- Paste one name per line. Add initials when two people share a name, and choose whether picks may repeat.
- Open the activity and choose Pick names or Make groups. To build groups, enter the number of groups and select Start group draw. Empty groups appear, ready for the wheel.
- Select Spin and assign to add one name to the next group. Continue until everyone is assigned, or use Fill remaining places to finish at once. Save a project backup to resume later, or download the roster and current groups as a PDF.
Common questions
How does the wheel assign people to groups?
In Make groups mode, each spin assigns one unused name to the next group in turn. This keeps group sizes within one person of each other, even when the total is uneven. Pick names mode has its own selection history and leaves groups unchanged. Shared links start fresh; project backups keep your assignments.
Can I save my activity for another lesson?
Yes. Save a project in this browser or download a project backup to open later. A backup is useful when moving devices or clearing browser storage. Shared links are independent copies; later changes and results do not sync.
